UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP)

The University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) is the official, system wide study abroad program for the University of California. UCEAP is partnered with 115 universities worldwide and offers programs in 42 countries. These UC-approved programs combine immersive learning with engaging activities. UCEAP students enroll in courses abroad while earning UC units and maintaining UCLA student status. Many programs offer internship, research, and volunteer opportunities.

Choose from summer, quarter, semester, and yearlong options. Financial aid and scholarships are available for qualified students.

You can chose programs by country, subject area, internships, and programs with research. These are the study abroad opportunities in Germany:

Engineering for Sustainability (Munich University of Applied Sciences): Take project based engineering courses that include lab experiments and simulations and visits to global companies headquartered in Munich. Class levels: Jr, Sr. Language of instruction: German, English. Terms: Summer; Language prerequisites: None.

European Studies BEST (Free University Berlin): Humanities and social sciences courses in English that focus on Europe, Germany, and Berlin, combined with German language study and field trips and assignments that make use of the incredible historical and cultural resources in Berlin. Class levels: So, Jr, Sr. Language of instruction: German, English. Terms: Fall, Spring. Language prerequisites: Min 0 qtrs/sems; Max 5 qtrs/3 sems.

Free University Berlin: Regular university courses taught in German in a wide range of fields at Berlin’s largest university. Class levels: Jr, Sr, Gr. Language of instruction: German. Terms: Fall, Spring, Year. Language prerequisites: German: minimum 1 year (3 quarters / 2 semesters) with a minimum language GPA of 2.85.

Humboldt University Berlin: Regular university courses, taught in German, in a wide range of fields at Berlin’s oldest university located in downtown Berlin. Class levels: Jr, Sr, Gr. Language of instruction: German. Terms: Fall, Spring, Year. Language prerequisites: German: minimum 1 year (3 quarters / 2 semesters) with a minimum language GPA of 2.85.

International Summer School (Free University of Berlin): Design your own program: take intensive German language classes, choose courses in English in a variety of subject areas relating to Germany and Europe, or take a combination of both. Includes field trips to museums, memorials, and political and cultural institutions. Class levels: So, Jr, Sr, Gr. Language of instruction: English, German. Terms: Summer. Language prerequisites: none.

Technical University Berlin: Regular university courses, taught in German, in a wide range of fields at one of Germany’s largest and oldest universities of technology. Class levels: Jr, Sr, Gr. Language of instruction: German. Terms: Fall, Spring, Year. Language prerequisites: German minimum 1 year (3 quarters / 2 semesters) with a minimum language GPA of 2.85.
