On October 7, 2019, the award-winning German writer and translator Michael Kleeberg reflected on the myth of belonging in times of migration and xenophobia. Before visiting UCLA and the Thomas Mann House, he had attended the German Studies Association conference as a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) writer.
